Press Release Wicked App for RIM “Special Edition”

Friday, August 7th, 2009. We are elated to announce that ScreamingToaster has deployed Wicked App for RIM Special Edition, at RIM HQ for use with RIM internal blogs. This marks ScreamingToaster’s first enterprise deployment of the Wicked Blogging App with Social Features. The ScreamingToaster ONE Platform (the cloud, services, and the BlackBerry app) is deployed on RIM’s intranet for use with internal blogs by RIM employees. BES/MDS and WiFi is used by the Wicked BlackBerry app to connect to RIM’s internal blog servers. Features like Who’s near me are hosted internally, meaning that only RIM employees connected to the cloud on the intranet can see each others’ presence information. Features like Tell a Friendcan be used to encourage dissemination of the app within the company so that other business units can collaborate using these internal blogs.

All posts writen with Wicked are geocoded

Every post that you write using Wicked is geocoded by default. Geocoding changes your post in 2 ways:

An a href tag is embedded in each post with a link to Google maps (shown above). The geotag will appear at the bottom of the post content. Note: If you do not want the Google maps link to show up in your post content & don’t want others who read your blog to see your location, edit the post and delete the link to Google maps, and re-save it.
A Custom Field called latlon is created with your location in it. If you use a free blog on WordPress.com, Custom Fields are not supported, so this is not applicable. If you host your own blog, the latlon Custom Field is created for each post. NOTE: even if you edit your post & remove the link to Google maps in your post content, when you view the post in Wicked’s Web View you will still see your location. Web View is a special view that is presented only in Wicked, it is not how others see the post. Wicked’s Web View always displays location.

We have spent a lot of time in the security architecture of our software platform. We wanted to build a cloud that would rival the best SOA infrastructures on the planet today. We not only use HTTPS for all data communications between services and devices (mobile/web/desktop), but also use SAML and a SOA policy driven architecture, to make sure that the notion of security and privilege is really fine grained in the system.

To be quite honest, this is overkill for a “consumer grade app”, but we wanted to bring all of that which is good about enterprise computing to our consumer apps . We could talk to you for days about the architecture of the ONE platform . At ScreamingToaster, we are performance junkies as well, so the app/services not only have to be secure, functional, and pretty, but FAST!

Manage Todo lists using Wicked

As part of Wicked’s blogging features, each blog you add has its own todo list. Sometimes, when blogging inspiration strikes, you don’t have time to write up a complete blog post because you are in the middle of something. Instead of forgetting the idea because you can’t get to your blog, you can preserve these moments of inspiration in a todo item until you’re ready to write your post.

It is super easy to capture your tasks and todos for your blog and check them off when you are done. Todos are integrated into the post editor and can turn into posts so you never have to re-type your ideas.

NOTE:Todo lists are not saved on your blog server and can’t be viewed from WP-ADMIN, they are saved in your user profile, which is sync’d with the cloud.

You can add todo items, edit them, delete them, sort then by proximity, or view a to do item on a map.

New BlackBerry Tour

I am really looking forward to the Tour. I don’t have one yet but I hope to get one soon. I use ATT and not Verizon so that is the reason I don’t already have one.

I recently bought a new Macbook and then Mac dropped the price on it, . I could have used that extra money to buy the Tour perhaps.

It is easy to read posts in HTML and Web view using Wicked. You can also search and slice and dice through posts.

I love my BlackBerry Bold

I have a Bold, and I really love it. I also have a Javelin and I use them both but I really prefer the Bold.

Wow I really hate iPhones. Did you know that they spontaneously combust and explode people’s hands off? I am not making this up, it’s true .
